LITERATURE DISSERTATION

A literature dissertation is a dissertation based on some specific literature. When writing a literature dissertation, you have to open a complete different point of view and incorporate your knowledge on something absolutely new and profound. A literature review depends on what topic you write and what have you chosen to include in your literature dissertation.

Originality is the key to a good literature dissertation. A smart student will pick a unique angle on a familiar work that has not been previously researched and written on by hundreds of undergraduates from years gone by. Once you've discovered an original niche in a particular book or poem, a careful reading of the primary text as well as established scholarly critiques should be undertaken. It is here where the foundation of your work will be built. Every point made should be supported by evidence, and each source should be carefully acknowledged in the correct style.

It is also important not to get carried away by using excessive quotations in the dissertation. Many insist on using overly long and unnecessary quotations from the source material in their work. Each quote that makes it to the final copy should be carefully selected for being highly pertinent to the topic being discussed.
